FMD Kraków: Understanding Poland - short history of independence

On November 12th, The Beginning of OTD 2018 with honor to 100 years of Polish independence we had a meeting with PhD Paweł Sękowski (Institute of History of the Jagiellonian University) and PhD Ondřej Stulík (Department of Political Science and International Relations, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen).
 
Professor Paweł Sękowski delivered presentation on Understanding of Poland - Short history of Independence. Key subjects were: The road of Poland to independence (from Disappearance of Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth), Interwar period (from 1918 to 1939), Wars on boundaries (with Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Bolsheviks of Russia), Complicated social composition of Poland (peasant part of population, languages, ethnicities and religions), economic differences, strong internal political conflict.
Professor Ondřej Stulík was describing aspects of Czechian independence. He started with history of Czechoslovakia, parts of his presentation were following: the first, the second, the third and the forth republics, peaceful dissolution of Czechoslovakia in to Czech Republic and Slovakia, the Czech Republic today, relations with neighbors and allies of independence, preferences of Czech politicians, question on political culture – Myths and Characters. 
The meeting went interesting and well, in the end FMD gave for free to all attendants different Books about History of Poland in English.
